Probably also shouldn't press it when she's in the middle of the thing. If she was still at the bottom, press it. But she was going up just fine, albeit uncomfortably. Now how are they going to get her down?

From what I understand, those escalators have some pretty big flywheels to keep up momentum in the event that a big group of people suddenly climb on. That might explain the slow stop.

That does make sense, it's a good thing they did stop it, death by falling down eternal stairs would suck
